Nathaniel Rackowe : Square Prism, London
The Royal British Society of Sculptors - LONDON
To coincide with the Big Draw Festival 2017, the RBS are delighted to present a new kinetic light sculpture by Nathaniel Rackowe which echoes the built environment we inhabit and the movement of urban and universal space.
Nathaniel Rackowe’s Square Prism (2017) is a dynamic work in light. Each line of glowing wire is illuminated in turn, so that the composition shifts gradually gaining speed until the work forms a cuboid, or stretched cube, which mathematicians call a square prism. The work echoes the geometry that surround us in the urban environment, which is easily overlooked. The artist is interested in the often hidden beauty of cities and fundamental forms. Square Prism suggests a built space that is always in motion.
